About this event
Your civil rights, civil liberties, taxes, safety— judges often have the final word. Who will decide? Who will be the guardians of our State Constitution?
This November, Washingtonians will be choosing five out of the nine seats on the State Supreme Court. Make sure that your vote is an educated vote. Join us on Saturday September 19th for a very special League forum "Behind the Black Robes." There we will be presenting a panel of three distinguished women judges describing what they do and what qualities a person needs to be an effective judge.
After the panel discussion, you will have a chance to meet the panel over coffee. We have also invited the candidates for the Supreme Court to join us in this informal opportunity to chat. Don't miss this event.
Doors open at 9:30am
Panel discussion 10:00am to 11:45am
Coffee and conversation, 11 :45am to 12:30pm.
Panelists:
- Judge Lee Grochmal, Whatcom County Superior Court
- Judge Cecily Hazelrigg, Washington State Court of Appeals
- Justice Sheryl Gordon McCloud, Washington State Supreme Court.
