Alert! A Timely Look Inside the NW Detention Center

Join Lobby Team Issue Chair Lydia Zepeda for a special online presentation on the Northwest ICE Detention Center.

The facility detained fewer than 600 immigrants before February, but it is now near capacity with 1,575 people.

“Most of the people in detention have no criminal convictions, many are asylum seekers, and increasingly, immigrants with work permits and visas are being detained,” she added.

This program will not be recorded, so register now!

League Supports Meeting Basic Human Needs

In Whatcom County, food insecurity remains a crisis. Federal funding cuts threaten SNAP and WIC-- programs that feed families, children, and seniors every day in our own neighborhoods.

How can YOU play a part in advocating for SNAP and WIC? Join the Health Interest Team in planning ways to fight to restore funding for food assistance.

Shout Out to the RE/HD Team

Shout out to the RE/HD team who put on a great program which built bridges and understanding for many members at the Northwest Indian College NWIC.

The program included remarks by the NWIC president, Dr. Lexi Tom, viewing a short documentary film and even a short tour of campus.

Thanks to Carol Smith and Sislena Ledbetter (team leaders), Tanya Emam, Peach Tarver, and John Baker (all team members).
